We love the summer...

Hello, Hello. In May we played at the Groove Garden festival in Sittard, our first festival of this year. It was a great weekend with great music and lovely summer weather. Besides playing ourselves we really enjoyed the sounds of René Amesz, Joris Voorn and Sander Kleinenberg. But summer has only just started and more festivals are coming up.

In our previous blog we announced that YumYum Music is hosting the techno area at the Chop Till You Drop festival on the 24th & 25th of July. We bring you some great dj’s like Secret Cinema, Olene Kadar, Ramon Tapia and many others. Of course we also play at the festival. This will be on Saturday night.

As you may already know there are some changes in the location of the festival. The organisation was forced to move the festival from the Seacon VVV Stadion to the Kazerneterrein in Blerick. It will probably be this year only. This last minute change brings some new challenges to the organisation but we will make sure that this years Chop Till You Drop will be an awesome and unforgetable festival.

Another festival you shouldn’t miss is Housetrippers Outdoor in the 31st of July at Katsbek in Susteren. With dj’s like Michel de Hey, Remy, Secret Cinema, Ben Bastion and many others this is going to be a great day. Also in the line-up is Svaiy who’s cheating for once! Because Vekx isn’t available, he is temporarily replaced by good friend and dj MaxM.

Just before summer comes to an end Svaiy & Vekx will play their first international gig on the Circle of Love festival at the 22nd of august in Nuess, Germany. This electronic Music festival returns every year on a different location and brings great national and international dj’s.

In this years line-up you’ll find dj's like: Paul Kalkbrenner, Oliver Koletzki, Michael Mayer, Chicks on Speed, WhoMadeWho, Simian Mobile Disco, Ali Kuru, Cess and many more . You can expect a great party with a nice atmosphere and some great electro, house, tech-house and techno music.

We don’t want to think about it yet, but all good things come to an end. Also summer ends and that means we have to go back inside to enjoy good parties, good music and good dj’s. It also means that another edition of YumYum is coming on the 25th of september. For the second time YumYum has an extended closing time untill 05.00am. Besides that there is a great line-up to make sure you’ll never forget the end of the summer of 2010. In the line-up we bring you: Gabriel Ananda, Ongeoliede Machine, Struiwigh and resident dj’s Svaiy & Vekx. Ofcourse vj Stivo will take care of the visual show. This YumYum is one you shouldn’t miss.

Dancetour

On the 27th of June the Dancetour strikes down in Roermond again. Just like last year we organised a small afterparty in Café FF. Behind the decks we, Svaiy & Vekx, and dj MaxM will bring some nice and funky house and tech-house music. The un-official afterparty is totally free of charge and we hope that you'll join us to party a little more on this sunday evening.

Spring is in the air...

Days are getting longer again and the temperature outside is slowly climbing to a nice degree! This means that spring is in the air and the summer is getting closer. And yes we're looking forward to the summer because there are loads of nice festivals coming up again. Next to that we also play at a few of these festivals this summer... But first we have another "House is a FFeeling" and "Yum Yum" before we step outside.

House is a FFeeling

On the 24th of April we're in café FF again for another funky, groovy and sexy housenight. This time we've invited another friend of us who plays some really nice and soulfull tunes. His name is Rene Reche, and some of us remember him as the winner of the 2007 Zuiderstorm DJ Contest. From there on Rene played at many parties and develloped his sound into a warm, soulfull, funky and sexy mix of house and tech-house. We're looking forward to see him behind the decks at House is a FFeeling. Besides Rene Reche the night will be completed with resident dj's MaxM and Svaiy & Vekx. So join us the 24th...

Yum Yum with Infinitize

For the 3rd time this year we have another Yum Yum in the Azijnfabriek. This time we invited Infinitize to rock the house. The two brothers Gordon & Jermain started very early with producing and playing music together. After they where into breakbeats for a while they switched succesfully to tech-house and progressive house. As Infinitize they're always looking for original sounds and groundbreaking ideas. In 2006 their first track 'Around Us' got released on Rene Amesz' label 25 Hertz. Recently Infinitize's latest track 'Crawl' got released at Timo Becker's Timbee label. At the same label you'll find dj's like Patric La Funk, Noir and Tim Weeks.

Another dj we've invited for the 8th of May is Bastian Tiles. This dj from Roermond is a good friend of us who has music running thru his vains. Bastian Tiles always suprises you with a very nice record choice. His nose for special tracks weither it's house, tech-house or techno is extraordinary.

To open the night we set up a dj contest together with the Azijnfabriek. On the 16th of April 6 dj's will compete for a gig at Yum Yum. More info at the Azijnfabriek website.

Yum Yum won't be complete without resident dj's Svaiy & Vekx. With their dynamic tech-house and techno sound they always lift Yum Yum to another level. VJ Stivo won't do his visuals this time, however he got himself involved into a special light-show for the 8th of May.

22 & 23 May Groove Garden Festival

We are proud to anounce that on the 22nd of May we are playing on the Groove Garden Festival in Sittard. This 2 day festival is one of the first outdoor festivals of the year. This year Groove Garden has a bigger line-up than ever before. With dj's such as Joris Voorn, Don Diablo, Felix Da Housecat, Sander Kleinenberg, Wally Lopez, Rene Amesz, Chocolate Puma and many more it's going to be a great festival. Hopefully May brings us sunny weather.

Yum Yum Music at Chop Till You Drop Outdoor

In July the whole Yum Yum crew will be present on one of the festivals in Venlo. This year the Chop Till You Drop organisation invited us to host the techno stage. Ofcourse we accepted the invitation and have been sitting together for a while to create a quality line-up for the techno stage on saturday the 24th of July and sunday the 25th of July. Besides Yum Yum Music resident dj's Svaiy & Vekx we can already announce that Secret Cinema (GEM), Egbert (Cocoon) and Bart Skils (100% Pure) will be playing at Chop Till You Drop Outdoor. Besides a great line-up we also bring with us STV-Visuals (vj Stivo) who will create another spectaculair visual show.

Planet March

Dear friends,

Here another Svaiy & Vekx update! There's lot's to tell and to look back at. We had and still have some really nice gigs this month and we also received some new bookings!! All this we like to share with you through this blog.

Yum Yum with Egbert!

What a great Yum Yum we had with Egbert at the 13th of March. We didn't really know what to expect, but Egbert really blew us away. His live set was energetic, pumpin and steaming hot. The crowd really loved it, the atmosphere was great, it was just another night to remember. But lets not forget this other guy from Rotterdam, ArtXpress. He warmed up the party really nice and it was good to have him at Yum Yum as well. Check out the pics here.

Minimaal Royaal & Donker

At the end of February and in the first weekend of March we had 2 nice gigs again in Sittard. First we played in The Fenix with Kabale und Liebe who again showed what a good sound he has. Indespite of the small number of people it was a nice party. We where lucky to play a second set after Kabale und Liebe finished because a dj couldn't make it. Next we played at Donker in The Stadslab with our friends Infinitize and Belgian dj and producer Hermanez. What a great location Stadslab is and it was great fun to play there. Because of the cosy room it only took a small crowd to make a big party.

March gigs

The following gigs are still to come. On March the 19th we play at 2 parties. First we go to Sittard again where we play at Deep in Castle Limbricht. Really looking forward to play at this exclusive location. In the line-up some great dj's like Michel de Hey, Eric de Man and Infinitize. More info here. One more Yum Yum before summer season

At the 8th of May there is going to be another Yum Yum before we go into spring and summer and all festivals are starting. In the line-up we have some great dj's who are all from Limburg. For those who are not from Holland, this is the most southern province. So at the 8th of May we have Infinitize, Svaiy & Vekx and Bastian Tiles. More info on the Yum Yum website. Groove Garden

We are happy to inform you that we received a gig at the Groove Garden festival in Sittard. The festival is spread over 2 days and is located at swimmingpool de nieuwe Hatenboer. Last year Groove Garden had some great dj's but this year is going to be bigger. With artists like Joris Voorn, Felix da Housecat, Don Diablo, Eric de Man, Rene Amesz, Chocolate Puma, Sander Kleinenberg, Wally Lopez and many others, it's going to be a great beginning of the festival season. Doing some nice gigs

In the following weeks we'll have nice gigs in our scedule. We'll be playing at some nice venues and parties and we're really looking forward to move some dancing feet!!

Minimaal Royaal @ Poppodium Fenix Sittard

On the 27th of february we're playing at Poppodium Fenix in Sittard. Here we're invited to play a set after headliner "Kabale und Liebe". This dj from Amsterdam was on our Yum Yum parties already and he knows how to get a party going. Hopefully there's a nice crowd so we can raise the temperature even higher.

Donker @ Stadslab Sittard

At the 6th of march we'll be playing for the first time in the Stadslab in Sittard. We're invited by our friends Infinitize who are the organisers of this party. In the line-up we'll be playing alongside Infinitze, RewindRoy, Bram Stalker and Belgium dj and producer Hermanez. His debut records on Miconn featured mixes from Lauhaus, Martinez, Ramon Tapia and Barretz, all of which perfectly complimented his stunning original mixes, while support came thick and fast for each release from Laurent Garnier, Barem, Gregor Thresher, Sven Vath, Christian Smith and many more revered DJs worldwide. It was now obvious that he had begun to step forward into the world of his dreams.

Yum Yum @ Azijnfabriek Roermond

In an earlier post we already gave som attention to the next Yum Yum at the 13th of March. But once again we are very proud to announce that we've got another great line-up with Egbert, ArtXpress and Svaiy & Vekx. For those who don't know Egbert yet, this guy is one of Holland's biggest talents in the techno scene. Discovered by Secret Cinema on Myspace, Egbert already released track on labels such as EC Records, Trapez and Cocoon Recordings. Egbert is now playing all over the world with his live sets and he'll probably will have a massive festival summer!!

Deep @ Kasteel Limbricht Sittard

On the 19th of March we'll be opening one of the rooms at a party in Castle Limbricht. At this unique location we'll be playing alongside some well respected dj's from the dutch techno and house scene. Michel de Hey and Eric de Man are these dj's that are playing at Deep. But that's not all, Deep also brings some great and talented dj's from the South. Infinitize, RewindRoy and Dayak will also be playing in this unique castle.

True House

House is a FFeeling: on saturday the 6th of February we had the first edition of "House is a FFeeling" at Café FF in Roermond. The purpose of this new night is to prove that true house is still alive. Together with dj's MaxM and Dada we put this night together and played some funky, groovy and real house again. With sounds from labels like Defected, Stealth, Strictly, Champion and many others we played the best in today's and yesterday's house.

For a first time "House is a FFeeling" was really succesfull. The place was packed with a nice crowd and everybody was enjoying themselves. In the future we are planning to return on a regular base with " House is a Feeling" at Café FF. We'll keep you posted when we return. Click here for more pictures.

New track: for the second time Vekx worked together with dj Roel Berson to produce another track. This time they created a real tech-house track with a nice funk to it. Just check it out down here.

Next Yum Yum with Egbert

The line-up for the next Yum Yum edition on March 13th just got confirmed! And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better… well it probably can!

We're proud to anounce we've got Egbert. Techno addicts don’t need an introduction for this guy. We're talking about one of hollands biggest talents, discovered on my space by Jeroen Verheij (Secret Cinema). Egbert already released tracks on labels like EC Records, Trapez and now signed by Sven Väth for his legendary label: Cocoon Recordings. His track ‘Vreugdevuur’ is Sven’s favourite closing track since last summer’s Cocoon nights in the Amnesia club (Ibiza). Be sure to check his reportoire, ’cause energetic tracks like: Dezelfde Weg, Vette Sounds, Magie and Dikke Blaassound will get you moving! Don’t miss this, because this guy has a really busy schedule this year (From Madrid to Moscow!). Egbert will be performing a liveset, to hear some of his sets visit his soundcloud page.

But that's not all. From Rotterdam we also have ArtXpress. The sound of this guy fits exactly into the Yum Yum concept, just check out his soundcloud page and listen, then you’ll understand what we're talking about!

Of course Yum Yum wouldn't be complete without Svaiy & Vekx, and yes, we're already looking forward to play some great tech-house and techno tracks. And don't forget to check our last set at Yum Yum on our soundcloud page.

Looking back....

January & Yum Yum
January has been a cold but inspirational month again. First of course we celebrated 5 years of Yum Yum on the 30st of January. It was another great night with an unbelievable dj set from Secret Cinema and a great closing set from Cannaloop. Big thanks to these guys but especially to all party people who joined us and celebrated with us. The vibe in the Azijnfabriek was great again and many people stayed in until the very last minute. It was a worthy night to celebrate 5 years Yum Yum. We also recorded the set we played at Yum Yum and below you can listen and download it.For pictures please check www.yumyum-music.nl

Winterdance
Another great party has been Winterdance at Beachclub Koers Zuid on the 23rd of January. This time Vekx played a solo set because Svaiy was precluded. After dj Dada warmed up the beachclub Vekx took over and played some funky house and tech-house. The crowd responded great and the party continued all night long. Winterdance is a small but great party. The crowd is always good, the atmosphere is nice and we're already looking forward to the next one. Big thanks to the Winterdance organisation.

Producing has started
In January Vekx started a collaboration with dj Roel Berson. Both Vekx and Roel decided to combine forces in Roel Berson's studio to try and make some first tracks. Although Roel and Vekx are still in a beginning fase, they managed to produce a first track. For a first time they are pretty ok with the result. You can listen to the track at the below player. More tracks will follow!

Tech-talk
Now in stores, the Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol X1.
The Traktor Kontrol X1 is an exercise in minimalism, reducing the various uses of Traktor to a few encoders and buttons and a compact form factor. But while it supports MIDI for use with any DJ software, its “high-resolution” mode – as with Maschine before it – uses a proprietary protocol. The unit will sell for just under €200,-

The control arrangement of the Kontrol X1 fits a selection of essential parameters into its narrow form factor. The controls are divided in right and left into the two decks, with four sets of effects controls each. There are dedicated controls for browsing through tracks, and cueing and tempo controls. The case can be used either horizontally or vertically.The strategy appears to be to focus on controlling loops and effects, while those who want to work with digital vinyl can view this as a consolidated mixer / browser interface.

There are some nice extras, too. The box itself comes with Traktor LE, meaning someone can get started with digital DJing for about two hundred bucks. And for another €49,- you can add a custom stand and case – details too often left out of controllers.
